About Krishi Vigyan Kendra,Turki

The location of this Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Farm Science Centre) is in Kurhani Block of Muzaffarpur District which located in the Northern part of Bihar. The district has an area of 3172Sq.Km and lies between 25°54" and 26° 20" at North latitude and 54°83" and 85°55" East longitude at an elevation of around 170 Feet above the mean sea level (MSL). The economy of the district is characterized by agriculture and the main food crops grown in the area are Paddy, Wheat, Maize, Pulses and Oilseeds, engaging more than 70% of the work force. Horticulture crops commonly grown are Mango, Litchi, Banana, Guava, Citrus, and and among vegetables are Tomato, Potato, Brinjal, Cauliflower etc.

Mandate of KVK

  1.  Conducting on-farm testing to identify the location specificity of agricultural technologies under various farming systems.

  2. Organizing frontline demonstrations to establish production potential of various crops and enterprises on the farmers’ fields.
  3. Organizing need based training for farmers to update their knowledge and skills on modern agricultural technologies related to technology assessment, refinement and demonstration and training of extension personnel to orient them in the frontier areas of technology development.
  4. Creating awareness Creating about improved agricultural technologies among various clienteles through appropriate extension programmes.
  5. Productionof quality seeds, planting materials, livestock breeds, animal product bio-product etc as per the demand and supply the same to different clienteles.
  6. Work as knowledge and esource centre of agricultural technology to support the initiative of public, private and voluntary sectors for improving the agricultural economy of the district.

Kisaan Chaupal

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Turki had started “Kisan Chaupal”(KC) on November 14, 2020 in village Tepri of Block Bandra. The concept of Chaupal helps to solve agriculture related problems of the farmers and also facilitate transfer of knowledge, about the new findings and technology in the field of Agriculture.

The Kisan Chaupal is being organized every Saturday in one village of the district. Scientists of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Turki reply to the queries of the farmers. Films related to new methods and techniques in the field of Agriculture & Allied areas. The objectives of KC are mentioned as below:s
